Jason Catchpowle is a native of Great Britain. He moved with his family to Perth, Western Australia in 2007, lived in Melbourne from 2014, before returning to Perth in 2020.

Jason had his first musical training from the age of five with piano lessons. Later he joined the music program at Churchlands SHS and had the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument. Unfortunately Jason joined a year after the program start and had to pick between the Euphonium or the Tuba as his second instrument. Fortunately Jason made the right choice and has experienced an enduring love for the velvety sound of the tuba.

Jason has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Jason’s teachers have included Cameron Brook, Steve Rossé and Tim Buzbee.

Whilst not playing the tuba, Jason enjoys Windsurfing, Cycling, Frisbee and motivational reading. He is also extremely grateful for the friends he’s met whilst studying at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) who have enormously enriched his life both musically and otherwise.
